Beer Review Week: Covington Brewhouse’s Bayou Bock

Today’s beer is by a local-ish brewery to me: Covington Brewhouse’s Bayou Bock. To get it out of the way, no, it’s not My Usual Dark Brew.

This one poured light, a slightly red tinged yellow that sort of reminded me of Scotch aged in Sherry casks. It didn’t appear to have much carbonation and was without any head at all. The smell was lightly sweet, maybe a malt or corn hint, but then also some citrus and hop to the scent. It was not a bad smell.

The taste was light, but had a good undertone of citrus. A hint of a metallic note, and some nuttyness. Not dark at all, but not altogether unpleasant. It definitely had clean notes to it. The mouth feel was pretty light; a little creamy, though.

All in all, not a bad brew. Would be good during the summer, I think.
