Veterans, Armistice, and the Bilderberg Group

This Week (May 27th-June 2nd) in 1954.

President Eisenhower signed legislation on Tuesday, June 1st, to officially change the name of Armistice Day to Veterans Day in the United States. This new holiday will honor all our veterans. The holiday still falls on November 11th in remembrance of the official peace starting on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. The resolution was passed by Congress to change the name and passed on to Eisenhower.

On Saturday, May 29th, elections were held in Australia. Robert Menzies and his Liberal Party of Australia lost five seats in the House of Representatives. But together with their coalition partner, the Country Party, they were able to hold power for the fourth consecutive term.

Also starting on the 29th and running through the 31st, a mysterious group met at the Hotel de Bilderberg, in the Netherlands. This group, comprised of business leaders and power brokers, has the stated purpose of creating a better understanding between the United States and Western Europe.

There were no notable films this week. No notable television occurances and no notable radio occurances. There were no major deaths or births. The scant updates here reflect what has been an unremarkable week in an otherwise remarkable year…
