Monday morning’s arrival at work was greeted with some sad news. An e-mail from the big boss contained a shocker: A coworker and a friend had died on Sunday, after battling cancer. He’d kept it to himself, and only his supervisor (and his supervisor) knew — he didn’t want a big deal made, he didn’t want anyone to feel sorry for him. He’d been out, but with everything else going on, I just figured he wanted some time off. He always loved his time off, time with his family, as anyone who isn’t married to their job would be.

It’s tough, being so unexpected. It’s tough, being so sudden.

It’s tough, because I won’t get to talk to him ever again.

So here’s one to the health of everyone I know. Keep going… because it’s tough when you don’t.
