On Hugo, Once More (No Pegging)

Most people probably haven’t heard of the BOFH, but at some point in the 90s the story added a trainee for the BOFH — the Pimply Faced Youth. Now, despite their camaraderie, the student desires to become the Master. At some point in the story, the PFY has done something to displease the BOFH, which he has been forgiven for. Bear with me, this is relevant. The conversation with a third party goes thus:

“Why did your assistant break into your apartment and steal your stereo?”
“On a bet.”
“He did that on a bet?”
“Yes, he thought, ‘I bet I can get away with this.'”

Everyone has been enjoying the decline of Hugo Schwyzer. The man is a fool, and seeing him become the public fool is all the more joyous for the type of people he made his name denigrating.

But to look at it from his perspective: Of course he cheated with a woman half his age, and a porn star to boot. Why wouldn’t he?

– The man sexually abused his students by his own admission. Using his position of power to extort sex from them is sexual abuse, right?
– The man then reformed, admitted the error of his ways, and became the Internet’s Favorite Man Feminist. Why? Because he felt it was best for him. And it was.

Hugo Danger loves fawning female attention. He used his position as a professor to get it, and then when he saw an opening — the poster boy of feminism — he jumped through it and attacked the enemy with fervor. He admonished creepy guys on OKCupid, he said men should all participate in pegging (No, thank you), he lambasted the manosphere, and he criticized men for behaviors he not only engaged in at some point in the past, but was in the process of engaging in. All of this netted him what he wanted (by his own admission): Attention. Specifically, female attention.

So when he was going to become a sugar daddy, of course he went for the forbidden fruit.

Hugo has been shooting nothing-but-net for years. Every time he tries to get female attention he does. Even when he is subverting the very culture he pretends to defend and treasure. Even when he is engaging in gross conduct (I saw the texts, ew). Everything he did, up until this all broke, was aimed at getting attention and it worked flawlessly.

So when presented with the opportunity to be a dirty old man with a young porn star?

Hugo thought, “I bet I can get away with this.”

As usual, he was mistaken.
