Pussies worried about the word Pussy

Grow up

Sometimes grown-up adults lob insults. Sometimes they are mean. Often, fools act as though a personal attack is some sort of awful affront. While a personal attack isn’t necessarily conductive to debate* it is not an instant win for the attacked. Grow up.

I don’t think Ted Cruz is necessarily a pussy. He isn’t a buff ass-kicking type of guy, but neither are any of the men running currently — they may be smart, they may be good at making deals, but I wouldn’t worry about any of them beating my ass in a fight. Maybe if Christie managed to sit on me.

But I don’t think it’s worth the coverage it is getting for Trump to repeat a term lobbed by… one of his supporters. I don’t see it as a direct attack from Trump; he’s being a bit of a smart-ass by repeating it as he did, but he’s not calling Cruz a pussy. He probably wouldn’t do that — Jeb, maybe — but even when he acknowledges what his supporters say he isn’t responsible for it. Had he totally ignored the woman the media would scold him for not responding at all. Even had he responded solely by telling her to shut up and never say that the media would have talked about how crass his supporters are. Trump, a billionaire presidential candidate, knows damn well how bad he’d look if he attacked one of his own supporters. By rolling with what she said he has removed her from facing criticism.

I also doubt very seriously that Ted Cruz is fretting about it.

* Though, to be fair, if someone is a pedophile, and you’re debating an issue relating to pedophilia, saying “You’re a pedophile” is fair game. Same for other issues, whatever they may be.
