Simplistic “Feminist” Logic.

Wow, that feminist sure is simple.

Synopsis of her post: By making fun of gangsta rap, Lorde is racist.

However, here is some of the stupid logic:

While I love a good critique of wealth accumulation and inequity, this song is not one

No, it’s a critique of a fake image pushed by rappers. People who are not known for their positive portrayals of women, by the way.

Because we all know who she’s thinking when we’re talking gold teeth, Cristal and Maybachs. So why shit on black folks? Why shit on rappers? Why aren’t we critiquing wealth by taking hits at golf or polo or Central Park East?

I was unaware of the musical genre exhorting how awesome they are for partaking in golf, polo, and Central Park East. Apparently I’m missing out on some upper-class yuppie music where people talk about gold watches, expensive Scotch, and feature women in tennis skirts having champagne poured over their breasts by a moron.

Oh wait, no. The reason Lorde picked that one genre is because that’s the genre that is so popular. Especially among a large swath of white kids around Lorde’s age.

Write what you know.

Why not take to task the bankers and old-money folks who actually have a hand in perpetuating and increasing wealth inequality? I’m gonna take a guess: racism.

1. Because of the lack of a genre called Banka Rap?
2. “With nothing to go on other than some teenage girl’s lyrics about a ridiculous genre of music that plays into its own stereotypes, I’m going to assume someone is racist because THAT MAKES ME SPECIAL.”

I don’t have to explain why wealth operates differently among folks who’ve grown up struggling because this shit has been explained already: If you grew up with holes in your zapatos you’d celebrate the minute you was having dough.

“I don’t have to explain my logic because RICH BLACK RAPPERS MIGHT’VE ONCE BEEN PO!”

Yes, Lorde is only sixteen, but this is no viral video she put out outta her basement on her own; mad people signed off on this. Record execs have been working with her since she was 12; several, no, many people listened to this track, and saw no problem with it at all.

Because it’s not racist; you are just a simple minded person.

The blogger wrote a follow up that seems to be rather proud of the attention her spat got, and explaining why people can’t disagree with her because she’s so special.

Seriously, she says the post has reached a larger audience that can’t understand her.

She also backtracks from saying the song and possibly Lorde are racist to “my critique focuses on how the song lands in the United States.”

No, that’s not what you said. So now we have it: She’s a liar and she’s simple. She’s just stretching out looking for some sort of victim-by-proxy and “look at me I’m so enlightened and cool.”

No, you’re just a lying idiot.
