And we’re off:

New Orleans — still undefeated. Still hoping for 16-0.

Chicago — My first loss on the winners side. Should have paid more attention to Detroit, I guess. They’ll be 3-2 after next weekend.

Seattle — Houston snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. Seattle might lose this weekend. In fact, Seattle loses this weekend is my pick…

Miami — Lost, as I guessed and hoped.

New England — Won, as I hoped and expected.

Denver — Doing remarkably well…

And the losers:

Jaguars — Lost, and I still see 0-16. They lose again this weekend.

Steelers — Working on that number one draft pick. They’re probably going to lose this weekend and they have a bye-week this weekend. They’ll find a way.

Buccanneers — 0-4 going into a bye. They might be able to trade Freeman for a bag of hockey pucks.

Redskins — Damn it. Earlier in the year I said they would win at Oakland, then changed my mind. I should have went with my gut. A loss for me.

Vikings — Won over the Steelers. Easy money. They have a bye week, so no guess there.

Giants — Lost, as expected. They may beat Philly at home.

So I went: 4-1 for the winners, and 4-1 for the losers, bringing my total to: 19 out of 23. Not bad, but I can do better. I’m picking the four undefeated teams I’ve been following to stay undefeated. Of the losing teams, only Jacksonville and the Giants play and I expect one to win (Giants) and one to lose (Jaguars).

Also, I realize that I’ve been leaving Kansas City off as a winless team. This is not intentional or intended as a slight against them; for some reason I thought they had lost a game somewhere. The Saints do not play them, and so I hadn’t checked up on them. (I only follow Denver for the Manning leading them.)
